1947 Mercury Eight Coupe
The Mercury had been regarded as an upmarket Ford, until the Lincoln Mercury division of Ford was established to create the perception that the Mercury brand was a “baby” Lincoln.1947 saw 86,363 Mercury’s built with 29,284 of them being the series 79M 2-door sedan-coupe ”Super-Deluxe”. The 1947 wheelbase had been extended to 118 inches longer than the 46 model. Factory equipment includes the original “Flathead”239 cu. In. V8 L-head, which developed 100 hp. And 180ft.lbs torque at 2,000 RPM. Fed with single down draught carburetion. The 3,066 lb coupe had a base price of $1,175 and came with a three-speed column shift manual transmission and 12inch hydraulic drum brakes. This car was the recipient of a complete nut and bolt restoration 10 years ago and it still looks amazing to this day. Always kept in a climate -controlled garage. The exterior Black paint is flawless and has been wet sanded and polished to a mirror like finish. All the body lines and gaps between the doors and panels line up perfectly. All new interior, seat upholstery, door panels, including carpet and headliner are all in perfect condition. All the chrome was re-chromed, all the stainless was polished to show quality standards. Riding on P215/75 R15 Wide White Radial tires on original steel wheels dressed up with chrome trim rings and original Mercury chrome wheel covers.
